River Wanderings

Sculptural Weaving- Raffia and Blooms

River Wanderings is a whimsical and delicate weaving that features a harmonious colour palette of purple and sepia tones, accented by complementary gold hues. The movement within the weaving narrates a journey along the river, revealing the enchanting flowers, leaves, and reeds found at its edge. This piece is truly a unique sculptural weaving.

I find joy in discovering beauty through the colours and shapes present in nature and flora. My goal is for my works to resonate with viewers, evoking memories of specific places and encouraging them to notice details in nature that may have gone unnoticed before.

My artistic process serves as a meditative practice, as I intentionally set aside any preconceived ideas about the final outcome. I am guided by the rhythm of stitching and the natural emergence of blooms and forms. Throughout this journey, the artwork evolves, finding its distinct shape organically. The final result is an intriguing weaving that invites viewers to explore its intricate contours and appreciate the delicate flowers.

The end result is an interesting weaving shape, inviting the viewer to explore its intricate contours and appreciate the leaves and blooms.
