Injidup Natural Spa is a place where tenderness and force exist side by side. Sheltered by sculpted rock and constantly replenished by the ocean, the pool offers a moment of calm while never letting you forget the immense power just beyond its edges. This painting emerged from spending time observing that tension—between protection and exposure, stillness and movement.

Rather than documenting the site literally, I respond to how it feels to be there. The curved rock walls become rhythmic forms, guiding the eye and holding space, while the water carries shifting light, colour, and motion. Layers of paint echo the slow shaping of stone, while energetic marks reflect the pulse of the ocean surging and retreating.

Injidup is a place of pause. Whether immersed in the water or standing back to watch, there is a sense of being momentarily held by the landscape. Yet that comfort is paired with respect, an awareness that the ocean remains unpredictable and commanding. This balance is central to my work: nature as both sanctuary and reminder of our smallness.

Through abstract realism, I aim to evoke memory rather than replicate scenery. The painting invites viewers to recall their own encounters with coastal places, moments of wonder, quiet, and humility. Injidup becomes not just a location, but an experience of connection, where the land offers beauty while asking us to listen, observe, and tread gently.
